A New You by '22

We’re well past the start of New Year's resolutions! In fact, we’re just about half way into this year and are turning our attention toward setting goals and expectations for finishing out the rest of the year strong. No matter how your 2021 New Year’s resolutions have fallen, up to this point, right now is the prime opportunity to reset your goals and make a plan to accomplish something big over the course of the next six months. If you can make this commitment now, there are some important things you can accomplish before you turn the calendar to 2022!

Although the world is coming out of a global pandemic, there are still many things that will not return to normal as a result. This, for better or worse, impacts many different jobs that will be forever changed by the sudden shift to virtual work environments, layoffs, and a slow return to normalcy. If you find that the career you were previously pursuing is not as hot of a prospect as it once was, we have some good news to share. Now more than ever before, there are countless opportunities to attain new career skills, and many courses can be taken online and take mere months to complete.

You may be surprised to learn that some jobs are no longer in high demand.  Read on to learn which careers you might want to reconsider and how a 6 month training program can create new career opportunities.

Online Summer Training Courses

NuPaths has a number of 6 month programs that will be starting this summer, which means you will finish by the end of the year or early in 2022. By enrolling in June or July, you will gain knowledge and training in some of the most popular new careers that are well suited for entry-level employment at a time when tech hiring is on the rise. If you are currently unemployed, underemployed, or a recent high school graduate, these NuPaths online course offerings could be a perfect launching pad for your career.

Associate Web Developer - The online training program focuses on web interfaces and user interactions throughout the development application life cycle. You’ll learn how to test, troubleshoot and develop new features to enhance existing web sites in a wide variety of industries.

Network Technician - Learn how to install, maintain and troubleshoot computer networks  and data communication equipment as well as how to test and configure operating systems, repair hardware, perform preventive maintenance and apply security measures to ensure that customer needs are met.

Digital Marketing Assistant - Digital Marketing Assistant training includes learning how to evaluate site analytics and performance to leverage and enhance digital business activities.

IT Security Analyst - As an IT Security Analyst, you’ll learn how to support the detection, containment, and remediation of IT threats. You’ll also be trained to provide analysis of security log data, Incident Response (IR) support, and threat and vulnerability analyses.

And more! These, plus additional programs, are offered by NuPaths throughout the summer and into the fall. Even if you’re not ready to take the leap and start an online course this summer, there are more program options that are continually added to the calendar. Moving On and Moving Up

Due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it had on jobs and the economy, there are several key employment opportunities that are not likely to return to what they were before 2020. If you had your eye set on pursuing one of these careers, it may be time to take a realistic look at the current job market and what job openings still exist. You may be surprised to learn that some of these jobs are no longer in high demand and are not the best option for breaking into a new career. They include, but are not limited to:

  • Retail/sales
  • Office and administrative support
  • Air travel
  • Hospitality
  • Food services
  • Manufacturing
  • Warehousing
  • Commercial construction

This is by no means an inclusive list, and the demand for any of these jobs will vary by region and the ever-changing circumstances of our economic climate. However, the big takeaway here is that when you’re reexamining your career goals, be sure to do your research and take a fresh look at jobs that are in demand and where your talents might be best applied. And if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the idea of enrolling in a program to train for a new career, NuPaths is here to help!
