NuPaths, a TechEd company, co-founded by Harrisburg University to prepare students for well-paying and in-demand entry level roles in technology jobs in six months, has been awarded a second state grant from Gov. Tom Wolf to support its IT training and certification programs.
Launched in 2018, NuPaths is a college alternative for recent high school graduates, veterans and those in career-transition. Students learn the IT skills and receive the industry-recognized certifications needed to enter today’s IT Job market. NuPaths also works with high school seniors through programs embedded into the school day.
NuPaths has educated over 200 students, who have earned over 500 certifications and over 1,000 college credits. NuPaths is a training partner with 12 workforce development boards in PA and has worked with high school students from 16 PA school districts. Gov. Wolf’s support will help expand its programs that provide job-specific skill sets for IT security operations, technical support, software testing, and digital marketing positions.
“Apprenticeship programs are a great way for workers to advance their skills with on-the-job training while earning a paycheck,” said L&I Secretary Jerry Oleksiak. “PAsmart was created as part of a broad strategy to increase job training for workers and strengthen our state’s workforce. Through these competitive grants, Pennsylvania is training and retraining workers and creating a more productive, diverse, and skilled labor force that our growing industries want.”
NuPaths received a grant totaling $212,416 through Gov. Wolf’s Registered Apprenticeships and Pre-Apprenticeships grants allocation of $6.5 million to organizations throughout Pennsylvania. The grant was awarded to build a distance learning training option for the IT Security Analyst program and the Network Technician program. The grant will also support training of 15 pre-apprenticeships in the IT Security Analyst program in an online training format.
