NuPaths Awarded Workforce Development Contract in Allegheny County PA

NuPaths, a TechEd company co-founded by Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU), has been awarded a $70,000 contract with Partner4Work, the Workforce Development Board of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, to train and educate a cohort of students between the ages of 18-24, and workers dislocated due to COVID-19.

“In the past three years, we have educated over 200 adults and high school students in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. This is the first time we have an opportunity to work in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County in collaboration with Partner4Work.  We look forward to supporting both youth and adults in the area to find a new career path in IT,” said Pankaj Agarwal, CEO of NuPaths.

Participating students will be trained in NuPaths’ IT Security Analyst program or its Tech Support Specialist program, with virtual training to take place beginning 2021 in NuPaths’ distance learning format, which includes live online instructor sessions and individual hands-on assignments and labs through the week.  There will be 14 students accepted into the program via the contract awarded.

“We are proud to support NuPath’s mission of connecting individuals to promising careers in a field that’s constantly growing and advancing our region’s economy. With technological skills now an integral part of careers across all sectors, this program will help students build high-demand skills and employers address hiring gaps to keep up with today’s evolving technological landscape,” a Partner4Work spokesperson stated.

Interested students should apply immediately at https://www.nupaths.org/apply-today/ or send an email to info@nupaths.org for additional information. Enrollment eligibility will be determined after a completed application is received.

Launched in 2018, NuPaths is focused on IT workforce development, with a mission to “Prepare students to perform specific entry level roles in Information Technology that are well-paying and in-demand.”

NuPaths programs are designed to educate adults, youths, and high school seniors, and prepare them for specific entry level IT job roles within six months.  Programs are offered in two distinct pathways – Core IT and Business Technology, with programs for IT security, Network Technician, Technical Support, Software testing, Digital marketing, Website development and Project management. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for enrollment. Students learn both technical and business skills, earn multiple industry recognized certifications, a certificate of completion and up to 10 college credits from Harrisburg University for their future college education.

Programs are delivered both in the classroom and in an online distance learning format. Upon successful completion, students are introduced to employers to get hired as interns, apprentices or for full-time employment.

NuPaths is an approved Pre-Apprenticeship trainer and works closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, multiple workforce development boards across the state of Pennsylvania, and PA CareerLink to fund education and training for adults. For the second year, NuPaths was awarded a PA Smart grant by the state PA Department of Labor & Industry to further develop and deliver its programs for youth and adults.

NuPaths works closely with firms like JEVS Human Services (www.jevs.org) in Philadelphia and TranZed Apprenticeship Services (www.tranzed.org) across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to connect its students with employers for apprenticeship opportunities.
