Student Orientation for the NuPaths Pilot

Nine (9) high school students selected to participate in the NuPaths pilot program attended student orientation on Wednesday, February 21 at Harrisburg University.  The students were introduced to university policies, technology access, and the resources that will be used in the first course.  Students have access to an ebook, live online labs, practice exams, and the Certmaster adaptive learning system in the Foundations in Information Technology course.

Courses in the pilot will run from February 26 - May 25 and will include:

  • Foundations in Information Technology
  • Fundamentals of Communication Software
  • Fundamentals of Productivity Software
  • Technical Support for the Modern Enterprise

The courses will prepare students for career entry as a Technical Support Specialist, including certifications that will represent their competency in technical support skills.  Certifications that can be earned in the NuPaths pilot include:

  • CompTIA IT Fundamentals
  • Microsoft Office Specialist - Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Office Specialist - Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Office Specialist - Microsoft Excel
  • CompTIA A+
